These absolutely stunning dresses, from Alexander McQueen’s Autumn/Winter 2010 collection, were presented in a low-key ceremony in Paris on Tuesday.

Each piece was hand cut from a dress form by the late Lee Alexander McQueen himself and features elements inspired by artworks from Old Master painters.

McQueen’s works have been featured a number of times on The Lovely Room, possibly more times than any other designer or product so it’s not an overstatement to say that I am an fan of his creative, inspiring work.

“Each piece is unique, as was he” This was the title of the official mailer sent to my inbox yesterday.

And we can see the evidence of his creative genius in each and every one of his work of art.

His last gift to the fashion world. A beautiful swan song.

Oooh. do want this Love red Faithful leather satchel so much. Perfect color and shape.

Also want: Blue Kaiser clutch, Union Jack skull clutch and Faithful wallet. From Alexander McQueen’s Pre-Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

Here’s a less severe alternative to Alexander McQueen’s hoof shoes (seen recently on Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance video and possibly on a street near you soon-ish) — Nicholas Kirkwood high heel platforms (from the Autumn Winter 09 collection) featuring a stunning silhouette. Heels and chunky soles are one of the design highlights of these pretty pairs of platforms.

Although I’m more a sneakers kind of girl, I’m loving the fact that women’s footwear design is reaching new heights (literally and figuratively) in the past couple of seasons. Will we see this trend extend to men’s shoes in the near future?
